What this site collects, why we have it, and what you can ask us to do about it. In short: one contact form, no mailing list, no cookies, no tracking, and nothing sold to anyone.
Who is responsible
Energy Ecologies is an advisory practice based in Amsterdam. Ella Jae Fisher is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach her at ella@energyecologies.org.
What we collect when you write to us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, and a message. We use them to read what you sent and to answer it. That is the whole purpose.
Your message reaches us through Framer, the company that hosts this site, and is kept in the form inbox belonging to this site. It also arrives in our ordinary email inbox, which Google Workspace holds for us.
That form is the only place on this site that asks you for anything. There is no mailing list to join.
What happens when you only read
This site sets no cookies. It does not follow you to other sites, it carries no advertising, and it builds no profile of you. Our host counts page views in aggregate so we can see which pages are read. Those counts are not tied to you.
Like every web server, ours handles your IP address for as long as it takes to send you the page.
Who else your browser talks to
Loading a page means asking for the pieces it is made of, and each request shows the company answering it your IP address. There are two:
Framer, which hosts this site, its images, its typefaces, and the contact form.
unpkg, which serves one small stylesheet used for smooth scrolling.
Neither is given your enquiry. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we do not hand it to advertisers. This site loads nothing from Google.
Why we are allowed to hold it
When you write to ask about working together, we handle your message in order to take steps you have asked for before any agreement, under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR. For other correspondence we rely on our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us, under Article 6(1)(f).
How long we keep it
If your enquiry does not lead to work together, we delete it within twelve months. If it does, we keep what the working relationship requires, and we keep the records Dutch law obliges us to retain for seven years.
Where it is held
Framer is based in the United States, so your message is stored outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
What you can ask for
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you. You can ask us to correct it, to delete it, or to restrict what we do with it. You can object to our handling of it, and you can ask for it in a portable form. Write to ella@energyecologies.org and we will answer within one month.
If you believe we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. We do not keep an archive of earlier versions. If you need one, ask.
